Tap Into Public Drinking Water

.
Just found out about this today (thank goodness for Facebook!):

Unbottle It...Maude Barlow Speaks

Kick the Bottle...Tap into Public drinking water

Monday, January 12, 2009
7 to 9pm at Club Alouette (2418 Central Avenue, Windsor)

Senior Advisor on Water to the President of the UN General Assembly and National Chairperson of the Council of Canadians, and Sid Ryan, CUPE Ontario President.

The bottled water industry has worked hard to undermine our faith in public water. The industry sells water — a shared public resource — for huge profits. It’s time to get the facts, kick the bottle and tap into clean, safe public drinking water.

Come out and learn how to take action in your community!

Wish I could have posted this sooner. Hope to see some of you there.

it's especially insulting when bottles like Aquafina (aka "PepsiCo") and Dasani (aka "Coca-cola") bottle up tap water and sell it to us for a ridiculous price in a bottle that will completely "F" the environment.
From a biz perspective: Genius!
"Let's sell the zombies their own tap water!"
From a human BEING perspective:
MORTIFYING!!!
I'm a Britta guy myself, mainly because I like my water ice cold - no more paying for something that is FREE in my own home!!!
For Christmas this year - a friend gave me one of those SIGG re-usable water bottles, which I take everywhere! Gym, work - wherever.
Time we start making our OWN bottled water!

What a great talk, I hope lots of folks came. I drink tap water. I remember at the science centre in Toronto doing the water guessing game. They have a series of water fountains and you have to rank which one you think tastes the best. Then you can see the results...both the sources of the six or seven waters you tasted and how others ranked them. I wonder if people were surprised to be ranking Toronto tap water above some of the bottled brands. Ha!
